keywords AUTOMOTIVE, LCA, LCC, SUSTAINABILITY ASSESSMENT

Reference persons EZIO SPESSA

External reference persons PhD. INg. Antonella ACCARDO

Research Groups PT-ERC

Thesis type DATA ANALYSIS, SIMULATION

Description The focus of the thesis are Generation 4 and Generation 5 batteries (such as Solid-State-Batteries (SSBs), lithium-air and metal-air) to be used in automotive applications. The activity consists in the evaluation of the environmental impacts and costs adopting a life cycle perspective. To do so the best practices in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC) shall be applied. The activity will start with data collection and Life Cycle Inventories (LCIs) creation of the selected chemistries. The whole life cycle model (comprehensive of costs and environmental impacts) shall be completed with sensitivity analysis and uncertainty analysis using the Monte Carlo Method. The expected outcome is the comparison of the environmental impacts and costs of the selected chemistries.

Required skills Batteries, electric vehicles, chemistry and electrochemistry
