Thesis type SPERIMENTALE APPLICATA
Description The Thesis is part of a project on image processing for facial expression recognition. The purpose is to perform an automatic detection of emotions from pictures or videos recorded on consumer-grade devices.
In more detail, the candidate will:
1) Analyse images (RGB and grayscale) and videos included in publicly available datasets,
2) Localise facial landmarks through specific processing libraries,
3) Pre-process the extracted data to identify a smaller subset that effectively characterises facial expressions and emotional features,
4) Build a framework for lightweight, automatic detection of emotions from the selected facial landmarks. Machine or Deep Learning approaches are encouraged.
Required skills Knowledge of Python, C++, or Matlab. Interest in Artificial Intelligence applications. Basic knowledge of Image and/or Signal Processing.
Deadline 10/03/2023
