Thesis type ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN, RESEARCH
Description Design of floating and modular living platforms with the aim of making them adaptable to extreme climate events (floods, sea-level rise, etc.), creating a sustainable and self-sufficient ecosystem. In particular, the thesis intends to study the possible materials and components to be used in the process of making the modules. The selection process will take into consideration the specific environmental conditions in which materials and components will be used. Finally, we intend to conduct an assessment of their environmental impact on the life cycle.
The interdisciplinary thesis is part of a research project by the Marine Offshore Renewable Energy Lab (MORE Lab), which specialized in offshore energy systems.
Required skills • Sustainable design, particularly skills acquired to building design (building systems and building materials)
• Materials science and engineering
