Description This Master thesis is to be conducted at the School of Physical Therapy, University of Western Ontario, Canada.

The candidate will be requested to collect and process surface electromyograms (EMGs) and ground reaction forces. Data will be collected during different conditions, wherein subjects will be provided with feedback on their bodily sways and muscle excitation. Based on these data the hypothesis that standing requires the minimisation of muscle effort rather than of the size of bodily sways will be tested. The results of this activity will advance our knowledge on how human stands, stimulating the emergency of innovative approaches to contend with the consequences of impaired, balancing ability.
