Thesis type APPLIED RESEARCH, RESEARCH, REVIEW
Description The challenges of modern signal analysis have been stimulating the evolution of classical Fourier analysis towards new directions. On the other hand, accomplishments of harmonic analysis have been fruitfully implemented in real-life contexts - e.g., JPEG compression or compressive sensing in biomedical imaging.
The topic of the thesis is agreed with the student after a discussion aimed at fitting their interests and skills. However, good familiarity with the basics of analysis, functional analysis and Fourier analysis (series/transforms) is required.
Most of the proposed theses are reviews of literature - please take into account that building a suitable background to deal with research articles demands a certain commitment. Depending on availability of time and the maturity of the student we could also design a small research project (of theoretical nature or even application-oriented).
