Description The development of both functional analysis and operator theory over XX over the 20th century is admittedly intertwined with the advances in the formulation of quantum mechanics.
The topic of the thesis is agreed with the student after a discussion aimed at fitting their interests and skills. However, good familiarity with the basics of analysis and functional analysis is required, possibly of Fourier analysis as well.
Most of the proposed theses are reviews of literature - please take into account that building a suitable background to deal with research articles demands a certain commitment. Depending on availability of time and the maturity of the student we could also design a small research project (of theoretical nature or even application-oriented).
