Description The WIVERN mission (WInd VElocity Radar Nephoscope, www.wivern.polito.it), centered on a 94 GHz Doppler radar with conical scanning for the measurement of horizontal winds, has been selected to undertake phase 0 studies in the Earth program ESA Explorer. The radar, which will be operated with conical scanning, will measure the components on the line of sight of the wind on a swath 800 km wide, sampling in a sparse way both because there will be measurements only in the presence of clouds and for the peculiarity of the track on the ground of the footprint. Wivern simulator outputs on atmospheric scenes will be used to test and train the algorithm.
Required skills Excellent programming level in Matlab / python.
Good knowledge of English (written and spoken).
Knowledge of meteorology, Doppler radar and / or signal processing.
Deadline 25/10/2024
