Description The acquisition of surface ElectroMyoGraphy (sEMG) signals during the application of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) therapy still represents a great challenge for the rehabilitative science field.
This thesis work will go deep in the study of how to extract information from stimulated muscle activities, developing novel circuits and algorithms to be integrated in the current sEMG-control-FES system, thus realizing an embedded and integrated closed-loop device for real-time control of FES application.
The developed prototype will be validated, using standard biomedical and motion-capture devices as gold standard comparisons, to verify the correct behavior of the overall system on daily-activities actions.
