Thesis type SIMULATIONS AND DESIGN
Description The student will perform a preliminary sizing of a blade pitch-variation system for wind power application, preparing a high-fidelity simulation model of its dynamics to evaluate its performance in nominal and degraded health conditions. Starting from the definition of the system architecture, based on electro-mechanical actuators, the student will define the type, the size and eventually the geometry of the involved components.
The student will be then tasked to define a high-fidelity simulation model in Matlab/Simulink of the actuation system, including the representationo of its most prominent failure modes, and to provide a preliminary performance assessment.
Required skills Basic knowledge of mechatronic systems, electromechanical actuators. Good proficiency with Matlab/Simulink.
