Thesis type SIMULATIVE

Description The following thesis is part of the Cerebro European project, which aims at realizing the first technology in the field of neuroimaging capable of obtaining functional information of the entire brain with high spatial and temporal resolution and without skull trepanation. A new electrical contrast medium consisting of resonant microparticles the size of a red blood cell equipped with micro-electrodes will be used to study the brain activity. The thesis aims to develop an electrical model of the interface between microelectrodes and brain tissue. Once the model has been developed, the candidate will have to evaluate how the electrodes' geometry, distance, and functionalisation influence the impedance and neural signal acquisition. In conclusion, a preliminary study will be performed to evaluate impedance variation as the oxygenation of brain tissue changes.
