Description Through the use of fabric formwork, architecturally innovative and structurally optimized structures can be cast that can use up to 40 percent less concrete than an equivalent prism, thus offering significant savings in material consumption. The proposed research aims at the use of fabric-derived shapes for innovative and unconventional formwork. We aim to evaluate the use of alternative formwork for the "forming" of beams and to investigate this technique of producing the structural artifact through models at the laboratory scale and by means of ad-hoc simulations. The objective of the thesis will be to propose alternative forms for beam structures and shells.
