Description Reefilla is a startup that was born from the incubator of the Politecnico in
2021, with the aim of revolutionizing the world of electric charging.
Currently, several projects are starting with second-life batteries provided by
some important partners in the automotive industry.
The thesis, in the context of these projects, concerns one of the main
challenges when it comes to batteries: estimating the state of health (SOH).
Working within the safe operating range of batteries serves to extend their life
on one hand and to ensure the safety of those who work with them on the
other.
Estimating the SOH of second-life batteries is a race that every player in the
automotive industry is facing at the moment because we cannot talk about
electric and sustainability without having a clear idea of how and how much
we can reuse the discarded batteries.
Required skills The candidate is free to use any methodology to try to solve the problem,
from studying the physics of batteries, to developing a data-driven model, to
utilizing machine learning techniques. The ultimate goal is to obtain a critical
analysis of the results in order to define the best approach.
In addition to a propensity for power electronics, the candidate is required to
be imaginative and willing to take on challenges without setting any limits on
his creativity.
