Analysis of payload depressurization loadings of satellite launch vehicle

keywords DEPRESSURIZATION, LAUNCH VEHICLES, STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS, VENTING

Reference persons ALFONSO PAGANI

Research Groups 26- MUL2

Description At the time of launch, the pressure inside the payload fairing of a satellite launch vehicle is at sear level. The ambient atmospheric pressure decreases rapidly during the ascent trajectory of the vehicle, causing a build-up of differential pressure across the heat shield and within the payload itself.
The objective of this thesis work is to develop lumped parameters models for the analysis of the depressurization loadings during the launch phase. Particular attention will be focussed on the design of the venting areas and the effects of the structures.
