Description The WIVERN mission (WInd VElocity Radar Nephoscope, www.wivern.polito.it), centered on a 94 GHz Doppler radar with conical scanning for the measurement of horizontal winds, has been selected to undertake phase 0 studies in the Earth program ESA Explorer. The radar, which will be operated with conical scanning, will measure the components on the line of sight of the wind on a swath 800 km wide. The aim of the thesis is to develop a simulator for level 0 measurements (I and Q of the radar signal) starting from three-dimensional atmospheric scenes with assigned Doppler spectrum.
Required skills Excellent programming level in Matlab / python.
Good knowledge of English (written and spoken).
Knowledge of Doppler radar and / or signal processing.
