Thesis type THEORETICAL/EXPERIMENTAL
Description In the frame of the PNRR project, the research activity concerns the design of eco-sustainable, cheap and easy-to-implement methods to impart antimicrobial properties to natural zeolites. The project involves: i) the development of sustainable supports (e.g. natural zeolites, and related materials) and the subsequent in situ reduction of metal nanoparticles, possessing an antimicrobial effect through the use of green reducing agents; ii) the chemical, physical, morphological and microbiological characterization of the produced antimicrobial zeolite-based materials. These analyses will provide insights into the effectiveness and potential applications of these materials.
The research aims to contribute to the development of sustainable and effective strategies for enhancing the antimicrobial properties of natural zeolites, which can have significant implications in various fields such as indoor air and water treatment.
Required skills Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry
Notes High motivation is crucial for conducting the research and carrying out laboratory activities. The successful completion of the thesis requires a minimum of 6 months.
