Description The objective of this thesis proposal is the development of materials and technologies for the precast concrete industry and, more generally, for the construction industry, to respond to the increasingly pressing needs of reducing the consumption of raw materials, reducing the carbon footprint and the enhancement of manual work. More specifically, the work will focus on foamed concrete, glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars and the 3D printing technology. Some of the proposed activities are: experimental tests in the laboratory, optimization of the mix design of the foamed concrete, design and construction of full-scale prototypes which will be subjected to experimental tests, realization of feasibility studies about the modification of production processes such as, for example, the introduction of the 3D printing technology for concrete and the use of pultrusion machinery in order to manufacture GFRP bars in the precast production plant.
