Thesis type DESIGN AND EXPERIMENTS
Description DC-to-AC power converters are widely used to drive electric motors for electric vehicles. The quest for long-lasting batteries requires improving converters’ efficiency. Wide band-gap transistors are helping with this aspect but require special care in the design of the power stage and of the driving stage.
The aim of this work is to design and prototype a traction inverter for an e-motorbike (20kVA, max) based on GaN transistors. The design phase will aim at finding the best architecture and selecting the best transistors available on the market. The student will design both the driving and the power stages, will realize the prototypes, and will test their behavior.
