Description The management of a battery for electric vehicles is controlled by ad hoc electronics units called battery management systems (BMS). BMSs have several tasks: monitoring the state of charge, monitoring the temperature of the cells, balancing the cells, and communicating with the rest of the car.
The aim of this work is to design and realize a BMS for an e-bike. Once the architecture will have been defined, the student will have to design the schematic and the final layout. Once the prototypes will be available, the student will have to check the actual behavior in the lab.
Required skills Problem-solving capability
Good knowledge of analog electronics
Good knowledge of power electronics
Basic knowledge of SPICE simulators and their usage
Notes 50% in University, 50% in external design centre
