Description The goals of the proposed thesis are the following:
* Make a complete analysis of the current regulatory framework for the micromobility vehicles, in particular for vehicles like e-kickscooters and e-bikes in the principal markets (e.g. Europe, USA).
* Analyze data on accidents involving micromobility vehicles, highlighting:
- Causes
- Whether the accidents are autonomous or other road users are involved
- Consequences for stakeholders
* From the previous analysis figure out:
- Whether the ongoing regulatory changes go in the direction of improving or not the highlighted points
- Which regulatory and technological changes could help.
Required skills Applicants having taken classes in transportation engineering (such as Transport Economy and Technique, Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering, Transport Systems) are especially welcome. Alternatively, skills in either machine learning/data mining or statistical analysis techniques (such as hypothesis testing or linear models) and familiarity with related statistical software such as SPSS, R or Matlab are sought.
