Description Buildings significantly contribute to the overall GHGs emissions at Italian and European level. Several policies and incentives related to the buildings sector have been implemented or proposed by governments aiming at reducing emissions, including the “Energy Performance of Buildings Directive” by the European Union. The effectiveness and the cost-competitiveness of such measures is often not supported by independent analyses. This thesis aims to:
1) review the main policies and incentives proposed to improve the energy efficiency and reduce the emissions of buildings at Italian and/or European scale;
2) define suitable modeling strategies to implement such measures in the TEMOA-Italy and/or TEMOA-Europe models;
3) develop a scenario analysis aimed at assessing the effectiveness and cost-competitiveness of such measures in pursuing the stated targets.
