Description Compact fusion reactors require extremely high magnetic fields, achievable only with magnets made from high temperature superconductors (HTS). However, these materials will face harsh radiation conditions dictated by the neutrons produced by the fusion reactions, and their ability to withstand it still needs to be fully investigated. The first crucial step in this direction is the development of models for the simulation of radiation induced damage on HTS cables, in the real working conditions. Therefore, the goal of this project is to perform Monte Carlo simulations to estimate the radiation environment the HTS will experience in the locations of the magnets and how variations of the reactor design affect the neutron spectrum, flux and fluence at the magnet position.
