Description Thin films play an important role in various modern applications. During thin film deposition, a single layer of a target material is deposited onto a substrate, enhancing physical and chemical properties. There are different ways to produce these thin films, but lately Ultrasonic Spray Coating is a new and advanced technology used for this application. It gives the opportunity to prepare uniform and more repeatable film coatings, with a higher controllable spray pattern.
In this project, the student will work on the optimization of the different parameters of the Ultrasonic Spray Coater for the production of thin films. The materials used will be colloidal inks of bi-dimensional materials (such as MoS2, WS2, etc.) in a-toxic solvents (mostly water and isopropanol) and the thin films will be also tested for photovoltaic and (photo)electrocatalytic applications.
