Description Recently, the tourism sector has moved towards a new frontier of sustainable and experiential tourism. This movement has provided the opportunity to participate in authentic experiences that can maximize value for local communities and sustainable tourism. It has also witnessed the entry of innovative digital players into the sector.

The project in which this thesis is situated aligns itself with tourists seeking unique experiences, which, until now, have been meticulously created through significant and costly manual work to achieve high-quality and highly personalized experiences. However, this manual approach impedes scalability. Major international players scale their business models by focusing on the resale of standardized experiences. This project aims to automate the creation of a tourist offering in line with the market, incorporating generative artificial intelligence to protect and enhance the territory, even in less touristy areas, without compromising the quality of the offering.

The objective of the thesis, therefore, is to study and contribute to the realization of a platform and its user interface based on web technologies for the automatic creation of such tourist experiences through the use of artificial intelligence techniques.

It will be relevant in the thesis to develop a flexible and adaptable user interface, applying state-of-the-art User Experience and User Interface (UX/UI) methods and methodologies to enhance interaction between the user and the application, anticipating potential challenges in understanding by a broad user base.

The thesis will also need to study methodologies and implement solutions for web scraping, clustering, and generative AI in the experiential tourism sector. Furthermore, the solutions must be tested with load stress tests and laboratory and operational tests, also in collaboration with the internal development team, to highlight the best choices in terms of efficiency and effectiveness between front-end and back-end.

The platform developed will be an integral part of a research project under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and will be funded through the NODES calls of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR). Therefore, the company will connect the student with the partners and end-users for the execution of these tests.

Required skills Excellent knowledge in responsive web development (HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, PHP/Java, React).
Data handling on relational databases (PostgreSQL).
Inclination and curiosity towards applied Artificial Intelligence.
