Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description The aim of the thesis is the study of experimental techniques for the analysis of balance in clinic, in particular in dynamic posturography tests in which the subject is subjected to external perturbations.
One of the aims of the trial is to correlate the characteristics of the perturbation with those of the postural response. The first can be imparted through manual or automatic devices, the second must be objectively detected through dedicated instrumentation, such as force platforms, wearable inertial sensors, stereophotogrammetry systems, EMG.
Starting from preliminary protocols already defined, it will be necessary to:
- verify the usefulness and feasibility of the measurements that can be obtained from the available instrumentation, given the purposes of the application;
- define test protocols suitable for evaluating healthy and, possibly, pathological subjects;
- perform the tests with the aim of deriving models and/or strategies for the automatic analysis of the data.

Required skills Basic knowledge of: biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, motion analysis, biomedical instrumentation, signal processing, MATLAB-Simulink.
