Description This thesis investigates the research and development of an algorithm designed for the equitable redistribution of incentives among members of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), focusing on a case study involving a building with 12 housing units. The aim of the thesis is to identify an algorithm that not only considers economic, social, and ethical factors but also integrates a gamification approach to incentivize energy-wise behaviors among participants. Thanks to a collaboration with Enercade startup, the student will be part of the R&D team developing Enercade's application that encourages REC members to adopt more sustainable energy practices by offering rewards for following specific energy usage suggestions. The thesis investigates how the algorithm's integration with these gamification strategies enhances member engagement, fosters a culture of sustainable energy consumption, and ensures a fair and motivating distribution of financial incentives. The findings of this thesis work will underscore the effectiveness of combining incentive redistribution algorithms with gamification techniques in promoting sustainable behaviors within RECs and contribute valuable insights for policymakers, energy providers, and communities seeking to maximize the benefits of renewable energy adoption.
The development of the thesis work involves a hybrid type of collaboration, alternating moments of face-to-face discussion and interaction with the company tutor with the remote performance of specific research and development tasks, always supervised by both academic and industrial tutors.
