Modeling and calibration for the structural analysis of structural artworks belonging to the 20th century heritage
Reference persons ROSARIO CERAVOLO, ERICA LENTICCHIA, GAETANO MIRAGLIA
Thesis type NUMERICAL
Description The student will gain insight into the calibration of numerical models aimed at the structural analysis of existing buildings. The calibration of the mechanical parameters of the models starts from a proper characterization of the structure through exhaustive experimental campaigns, particularly from mechanical and dynamic tests.
The updating of models of existing buildings is of great importance in the field of structural engineering, as it allows to predict their behavior, plan their preservation and assess their structural safety.
In the present thesis work, the student will have the opportunity to work on an interesting case study: the Hall C of Turin Exposition built by Pier Luigi Nervi. The student will have the results from several experimental campaigns as well as advanced geometric models acquired by terrestrial laser scanning.
Opportunity to pursue more advanced topics depending on the student's interest and background
Required skills Basic knowledge of Matlab and Autocad 2D and 3D
Deadline 27/02/2025
