Description This thesis aims to conduct a test campaign on a new experimental wind tunnel testbed to study the optimal propeller-engine coupling of an innovative Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).
The testbed, which has already been fully realized by the ICARUS student team, is designed to evaluate the efficiency of the propulsion system (BLDC electric motor plus its propeller) and define its optimal coupling.
The thesis proposal is preferably aimed at 1 candidate with a good technical-scientific background and a strong aptitude for experimental activity and multidisciplinarity. During the thesis activity, the candidate will be supported by members of the ICARUS team.
Main activities in which thesis candidates will be involved:
• Integration of the bench with the experimental facility (subsonic wind tunnel "BLU" at the experimental aerodynamics laboratory "M. Panetti" of DIMEAS)
• Calibration of the bench and related measurement sensors
• Experimental acquisition of engine-propeller coupling efficiency data and analysis of the results
Required skills Good technical-scientific background, strong aptitude for experimental activity and multidisciplinarity
