Description The thesis work consists mainly of:
● Investigating using finite element models the stresses (global/local) acting on our backfilling
● Researching technical characteristics of optimized backfilling strengths (tensile and compressive), providing new FEM models describing different backfilling strategies/options.
● Familiarization of extractive operation both in an operational and mine planning perspective.
● Selecting one or several areas that might be particularly suited to the new backfilling strategy.
● Establishing an existing baseline then modelling and scoping from an operational and technical perspective, implementation of the new backfilling method.
The position will be based in Pomeifré (Prali) / remote and will be supervised by the Imerys Talc Italy mining team, working with the mining engineer, mine manager, production manager and geologists.
