Description The thesis activity involves the development of an electromagnetic finite element model of a IPM motor (for vehicle propulsion) using the open source software SyR-e, developed by the members of PEIC (Power Electronics Innovation Center).
The starting information for the modelling will be derived from reverse engineering on the disassembled motor and some preliminary assumptions.
The model will then be used to simulate (on some stationary working points) the forces exchanged at the air gap under nominal conditions and in the presence of rotor eccentricity/ misalignment.
The forcings will be analysed in the angular domain and their harmonic content assessed.
The application of these forcings to the relevant powertrain for electric vehicles will also be set up and evaluated in terms of vibration and noise.
