Description The thesis proposal is to make a basic survey of the existing historical architectural models (i.e. wooden scale models) of architecture in Piedmont, so to assess similarities, functions, continuity and discontinuity in their production. A certain degree of mobility (some models are not in Turin) is required. The survey, once matched with appropriate readings (in English and Italian) will enable the author or authors of the thesis to discuss, in a broader historical context, the historical function of scale models in the architectural design process.
Required skills A certain degree of mobility is expected (in places usually reachable by train, bus); basic knowledge of architectural photography (a camera is not needed) and survey techniques. Basic Italian reading-communicating skills are necessary.
