Creation of a Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) system of an electromechanical actuator for aerospace application
Reference persons BARTOLOMEO MONTRUCCHIO
Description Industry 4.0 responds to a need for growth and innovation of industrial realities, and it wants to build a new world where the digital, physical, and human dimensions are interrelated in complex socio-cyber-physical systems. For the sustainability of these transformations, knowledge, information, and data must be integrated within both model and data-driven Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) approaches for the evaluation and prediction of the evolution of structures, systems, and components (SSC) and process behavior in order to anticipate failures and avoid accidents. It, consequently, aims to design a complex system, followed by continuous monitoring of its operation to optimize its safety and performance.
Therefore, the thesis aims to create a data-driven PHM system for electromechanical actuators commonly mounted on airplanes and other systems. This system will have to rely on a further system to identify the best features for the fault in question.
Basic knowledge of Python and Machine Learning (ML) is required.
The project is strongly interdepartmental and involves teachers and researchers from DAUIN (Department of Automatics and Informatics) and DIMEAS (Department of Mechanics and Aerospace).
