Description This thesis proposal includes several topics related to the use of GFRP rebars in concrete, for the desing of new structures and for repair and strengthening interventions on existing structures and infra-structures. Some of the topics are: modelling of steel-GFRP hybrid reinforcement, analysis of the effect of GFRP rebars on the ductility of concrete members, assessment of durability and sustainabilty of GFRP reinforced structures.
Proposed activities include the design of structural elements, such as slabs and bridge decks, comparison with conventional solutions; experimental investigations on the mechanical behavior, development of LCA analyses.
