Description Piezoelectric biomaterials are a class of materials of great interest for bone tissue engineering. In particular, bioactive piezoelectric materials can combine the autonomous stimulation of bone cells through bioelectric signals and rapid osteointegration. The thesis concerns the design of new bioactive piezoelectric biomaterials composed of piezoelectric ceramic particles (e.g. Ba titanate, Zn oxide...) incorporated in a bioactive glass or glass-ceramic matrix. The thesis involves an initial in-depth bibliographic research on the bioactive piezoelectric materials currently investigated and a subsequent experimental part at the DISAT laboratories for the synthesis and characterization of the new proposed materials.
Required skills Materials science; biomaterials
Notes The thesis will begin in October. For applications, contact the professors via email by the end of September.
