Description The thesis falls within the field of "damage-tolerant" mechanical design and focuses on damage characterization in composite materials through an innovative non-destructive technique based on vibration testing. The objective of this thesis is to quantify and improve the sensitivity of the technique, for example, through a machine learning algorithm, by focusing on the analysis of the vibrational signal and its transformation into the frequency domain, investigating the differences between intact and damaged materials. The thesis consists of an experimental part and a numerical modeling part.
