Thesis type THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL
Description The thesis concerns the experimental study of the fatigue behavior of innovative materials for aerospace applications.
The experimental activity concerns the measurement of the number of cycles to failure of standardized specimens and/or components for aerospace applications.
The fatigue limit correction criteria are applied following analysis of the surface, loading methods, dimensions and other factors.
The data obtained will be processed by the student using S-N representation criteria (Wohler), Goodman-Smith, Haigh, etc.
The materials analyzed are traditional and innovative. The latter include trabecular structures, sandwitch panels, foams and newly developed lightweight materials.
Required skills Fundamentals of structural mechanics
Fundamentals of material science
Basics of aeronautic structures (optional)
