Description The project aims at exploring the properties of large scales of turbulence in open channel flows, in a laboratory-settings and using state of the art ultrasonic velocity profilers. The project is relevant for a plethora of engineering applications including sediment transport and mixing in aquatic environments. The work can lead to a journal publication. If time allows, there is a possibility of complementing laboratory data with field data taken in a large irrigation channel nearby the city of Turin.
Required skills basic knowledge of Hydraulics or Fluid Mechanics
