Description n the old analog TV world there was the legal concept of the 'personal recording' based the old VHS cassette recorder.
The scope of the thesis is to recreate inside the web-view experience the same possibility to create a 'personal recording' as was available in the past, that is still considerer by the world legislations a user right.
The general idea is using the libpcap packet capture library, available on many platform (the Microsoft porting has also been done by Politecnico) to analyze the traffic on the port 80, and to extract from such sniffing the resource locator (URLs) of the multimedia files that are viewed.
A work already exist for the analysis of the protocols outside of the port 80, than can be a good starting point for the study and implementation of the different kind of protocols that nowadays can be encapsulated inside http and transit through the many firewalls and proxies of the Internet
Required skills Good programming skills (C language), basic knowledge of network protocols, http knowledge
