Description Current Systems on Chips (SoC) integrate many computational units into a single integrated circuit (chip); the information between the computational units is switched across an interconnection network, as in a simple telecommunication network.
Energy and power consumption are very challenging issues for the design of SoC, for two main reasons: battery life and thermal control.
We adopt an high level architectural view of the problem, without going into the hardware details, and we with to understand how to optimize the task allocation/migration and the data routing to minimize the energy/power consumption, exploiting classical Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling techniques.
Required skills Strong motivation and high creativity in designing and investigate new algorithms and solve combinatorial optimization problem. Good knowledge of C language is mandatory. Familiarity with Linux is helpful. An hardware background is NOT needed.
