Description Multiprocessor and multicore systems are increasingly used in practice. Such a kind of systems is often implemented on a single device, whose complexity and size rises significant problems when the test issue is considered, both at the end of the manufacturing phase and during the operational life. A possible solution is represented by the adoption of suitable functional programs, able to excite the implemented functions , checking their correct behavior and allowing the detection of possible faults.
The thesis focuses on the generation of such programs and on the evaluation of their effectiveness. For this reason, the first step will be the design of a sample system composed of two LEON3 processors, using the VHDL description of the single processor, which is already supporting its adoption in multiprocessor systems. In the following, the student will experimentally evaluate the effectiveness of some already available test programs, aimed at the test of the cache coherence circuitry. Finally, the student will possibly improve tehse programs based on the gathered experimental results.
