Thesis type THEORETICAL/EXPERIMENTAL
Description Object of the present research (theoretical part) is the analysis of simplified analytical models for simulating the dynamic behaviour of gears.
Object of the present research (experimental part) is the modal analysis of gears.
Aim (numerical and theoretical part): implementation activity in Matlab of the analytical model available in literature. Different analytical models and different gear typologies are considered: spur gear pairs, helical gear pairs, epicyclic gear trains? The corresponding results are analyzed in order to emphasize the advantages and the disadvantages of each model.
Aim (experimental part): modal analysis tests on an aeronautical gear. Natural frequencies and modal dampings are identified. The LMS TestLab 10 A spectrum analyser and the typical transducers are used (accelerometers, instrumented hammer?)
Notes The previous described research activity may be the basis of one or more master thesis.
The thesis is proposed as a part of the regional research program Great 2020 - Ageades ? Advanced Gear Design
Collaboration with Avio s.p.a.
