Description Methodologies and tools for reducing/modifying energy consumption in smart homes and automated buildings are increasingly attracting interest from both researchers and the industry. To enable improvements of the consumption awareness of public utilities, metering infrastructures are being deployed in public buildings, enabling data gathering on different plant nodes. Such an increasing availability of metering data requires efficient handling, cleaning, publication and visualization to enable energy managers and final users to understand the current consumption status, identify anomalous patterns and events, and take needed actions.
This thesis aims at gathering, organizing, anonymizing and enriching with suitable metadata the huge set of measures acquired over the last years at the Politecnico di Torino. Such data will be made available in form of anonymized energy benchmark, with associated contextual information (e.g., statistics, temporal information, etc.). Visual representations of the benchmark data will be tackled and different views will be designed to support energy managers in identifying relevant consumption patterns/anomalies. Designed visualizations will exploit existing tools, also stemming from other research fields, e.g., Business Intelligence, wherever possible while new visualization will be designed depending on the emerging needs. The work will be validated and, if satisfying, will be made available as an Open Source benchmark.
This thesis will be carried in collaboration with the Smart and Green Building management services of the Politecnico di Torino.
