Descrizione Methodologies and tools for reducing/modifying energy consumption in smart homes and automated buildings are increasingly attracting interest from both researchers and the industry. To enable improvements of the consumption awareness of public utilities, metering infrastructures shall be deployed in public buildings enabling data gathering on energy greedy plant nodes.
This thesis aims at designing, deploying and integrating a Dog-based metering infrastructure parallel to the existing metering systems currently in use at the Politecnico di Torino. In the thesis work, multiple instances of the Dog gateway will be deployed in several positions inside the Politecnico buildings and will be coordinated to concentrate consumption data on a single/redundant access point where advanced stream-based elaborations and efficient storage will take place. The thesis' expected results include the deployment map and architecture, the development of any additional module required for the Dog deployment, the actual installation and testing of data gathering points (Dog instances) and the design and deployment of the central data access point and storage. The work will be validated on the field and, if satisfying, will be made available as an Open Source project and considered for building-wide exploitation at the Politecnico.
This thesis will be carried in collaboration with the Smart and Green Building management services of the Politecnico di Torino.
