Description Deformation sensors are widely applied nowadays in many fields. The research of low cost and high performance materials that could replace commercial metal-based strain gauges is the new goal. Nano-composites (NC) represent the best candidate to increase the gauge factor, since a variation in their geometry can lead to an exponential variation of the electrical resistance. The aim of this study is to find out the best NC (polymer + carbon based material) which can mimic, and maybe overcome, already known commercial products. The candidate will prepare and characterize the materials in order to optimize their performances.
