Description Motivations:

Gene Regulation Networks (GRNs) are widely studied in order to provide a better understanding of genetic processes involved in diseases. Most of state-of-the-art models tend to simplify the biological behaviour of a GRN too much. Such simplification leads to an approximate modeling of the GRNs. The outcome the GRN analysis based on these models often partially covers the full biological behaviour of a GRN, loosing some important detail. Nowaday, no available tools are able to deal with the whole real GRNs complexity.

Goals:

To develop an innovative tool to model GRNs resorting to analog electronic circuits. The benefit is the ability of analog circuits to work with a continuous values domain, thus allowing to properly model the real biological behaviour.

Learning outcomes:

The student will learn how to design innovative analog circuits and to develop software tool for the simulation of electronic circuits.
