Thesis type MODELING AND DATA ANALYSIS
Description Dynamic model of chemical processes usually involve uncertain parameters or inputs. The rigorous description of this uncertainty through a mathematical model, which is useful to evaluate its impact on system outcomes, is challenging. This study focuses on processes that can be described by nonlinear systems of ordinary differential equations whose uncertainty is described by a distribution that is not known precisely, but can be bound by a probability box or p-box. For this purpose, Taylor model methods (which are an alternative to Monte Carlo analysis) are used for the determination the probability bounds. The potential of this approach will be proved on examples having more than one uncertain parameter and focused on reaction process dynamics and finally on freeze-drying of pharmaceutical products.
