Description The production run of river hydro is constrained by the requirements of environmental flow that, in certain seasons, reduces the net production. A storage system can increase the profitability of the plants by concentrating output to the grid in more profitable hours of the day. The study involves the simulation and optimization of a hydroelectric power plant with energy storage and aims to assess the cost-effectiveness of the operation.
