Thesis type SIMULATION AND DESIGN
Description Cloud computing applications run in large datacenters, where the resources (i.e. servers) are allocated to jobs and to virtual machines through some advanced cloud controllers (i.e., OpenStack).
These controllers usually do not take into account the network topology when optimizing the performance and the energy consumption.
Aim of the thesis is to develop a simulator able to model realistic interconnection topologies for large datacenters and a large number of servers (100k-1M) to investigate the impact of new cloud controller policies, outperforming state-of-art solutions thanks to be "network aware".
Required skills C or C++ programming. Network simulation. Internet network protocols.
