Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL/MODELLING
Description Arsenic and heavy metals are often contaminating water resources. A great effort has been devoted in recent years to develop reliable methods to treat the waters and get rid of them.
Bismuth oxide based nano materials have been recently considered as candidates for water treaatment due to their environmental acceptablility, non- toxicity, lower cost and better efficiency than traditional materials.
The thesis work will consist of (i) preparation of the nanomaterials, (ii) morphological and structural characterization of the materials (electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, ...) (iii) testing od arsenic and heavy metal asorption properties will be carried out in collabortion with University of Torino
Required skills Chemistry, basic understanding of adsorption mechanisms
