Descrizione Mobility on Demand (MoD) systems are emerging as a new paradigm for urban mobility, conjugating the cost effectiveness of public transportation systems with the convenience of a privately owned vehicle. Effective management of MoD systems also poses many interesting challenges, since different operational objectives must be harmonized (e.g., from the customer point of view, low costs, low waiting times, high vehicle availability; and from the operator point of view, high system utilization, high revenue, etc.). In this thesis, the student will be guided through the process of developing a discrete-event simulation model for a MoD system, to be used for the purpose of analyzing the system performance and behavior under various different operating conditions. Collaboration will be pursued with MoD system operators active in the Torino area, such as ToBike and Enjoy.

Conoscenze richieste Discrete event systems, queueing systems, dynamical systems, optimization.
