Thesis type MODELING AND EXPERIMENTAL

Description The present thesis work is addressed to the study and development of a new generation of eddy current displacement sensors for application in the field of rotating machines. The main applications are that of high speed rotors supported by conventional or magnetic bearings adopted for several applications: vacuum pumps, turbocompressors, high speed spindles for tooling machines.
The aim is to study, design, realize and test a sensor to be customized on radial magnetic bearings for high speed rotors. The sensing part and the signal conditioning electronic subsystem must be designed, realized and tested starting from a demonstrator that has already been developed.
The thesis work will be developed at the Mechatronics Laboratory of the Politecnico di Torino (www.lim.polito.it) under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Tonoli and Prof. Nicola Amati and in collaboration with other Researcher and PhD Students that are involved in the research line of rotating systems and magnetic bearings.
The activity will start within the end of February 2016 and end by July/September 2016.
For further information contact Prof. Nicola Amati (nicola.amati@polito.it), Prof. Andrea Tonoli (andrea.tonoli@polito.it), Dr. Angelo Bonfitto (angelo.bonfitto@polito.it), Dr. Lester Daniel Suarez Cabrera (lester.suarezcabrera@polito.it).
